Mandolin to sell to a beginner?

One of the Orchestra's Facebook friends, Beth, asked us if there were a good place in town to buy a used entry-level mandolin.  I thought I'd ask the group for Beth if anyone had either a mandolin for sale, or tips for finding one.

Music Go Round is always my recommended stop for god deals, especially used. They have 14 used mandolins in stock in the Twin Cities right now:

Depending on what she's looking at for price range, in this bunch I'd recommend this on the high end:

This for a more middle level:

And on the low end:

There are a few in stock in the $80-$140 range that might be fine, but really its going to be a matter of trying them and seeing if they are playable. Is she personally friends with anyone in the orchestra that could go with and help test?
If her budget is more in the $400-500 range I would say go to Homestead Pickin' Parlor in Richfield and get a Kentucky. And/or order one from the Mandolin Store in Nashville. From the Mandolin Store she would at least be assured it has received a set-up and will be playable and in good condition!
Hope this helps! Mandolin shopping in the Cities can be slim pickings!
