Mandolin refret pt. 2

Done - it took two weeks.  I played it at the MMO rehearsal before last - OK action, but not perfect - some tweaking still is needed.  Hardest part: cutting the tang (the part that goes into the wood) away from both ends of each of the 20 new frets, to fit over the bindings.  It took 45 minutes to an hour to fit and install each fret.  Also a new bone nut, made from a cattle bone I got in the dog treats section of a pet store.

The only specialized tools I used were nut files from Stewart Macdonald luthiers' supply.  All other tools were available at Menards, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, etc.

Let me know if you want the full details - it was a lot of work but it wasn't rocket science.
