Search for Case

I'm searching for a case (preferably hard, but soft may do) for one of my instruments that's about the size and shape of a 3/4 guitar.  I'm leery about buying online because I'm not sure it will fit well (well enough to travel internationally).  Can you recommend any stores in the cities where I may find an appropriate case?

Also, if anyone has experience shipping instruments internationally, I'd love to hear your wisdom and tips!
