This may be obvious (re Mandonico)

The problem with playing the extremely high section of the Mandonico piece is that I have to play it without looking at my hands. I can play it great, if I look at the mandolin. But then I have lost my place in the music!

So this is the technical challenge: shifting positions while keeping one's eyes fixed on the printed page of music.

Any other discussion of this tricky area?

One method is to memorize the tricky measures and look at the mandolin when you get there. You can put a big dot on your music to help your eyes find the place where you start looking at the music again.

I've never been good at finding the upper positions without looking at the mandolin.
